How this site is built to be usable
A plain list of what we have done, rather than a claim of compliance we have not had independently audited.
This site aims at the WCAG 2.2 Level AA guidelines. It has not been through a formal third-party audit, so we will describe what is actually in place rather than claim a certification.
What is in place
- Text contrast. Body and heading colours are checked against the dark background. Links and interface accents use the lighter blue rather than the brand blue, because the brand blue does not carry enough contrast as text on this background.
- Keyboard navigation. Every link, button, form field and menu is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring on each. A skip link is the first thing you reach on every page.
- Screen readers. Pages use real landmarks and one H1 each, headings descend in order, and every photograph carries alt text that describes the room and the work rather than the filename.
- Reduced motion. If your device is set to reduce motion, every animation on this site is switched off and content appears in its final state immediately. Nothing is hidden behind an animation that will not play.
- Touch targets. Interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, including on the smallest phones.
- Forms. Every field has a visible label, the correct input type and autocomplete so your device fills it in, and errors are announced rather than only shown in colour.
- Zoom and text size. The layout works at 200 percent zoom and at increased system text sizes without content being cut off, and no page scrolls sideways.
- No motion traps. Nothing auto-plays, nothing flashes, and there is no carousel that moves on its own.
Known limits
- The photo gallery opens images in a lightbox. It closes with Escape and moves with the arrow keys, but focus is not fully trapped inside it.
- Some technical drawings used as article headers are decorative and are hidden from screen readers rather than described, because the article text carries the same information.
If something does not work
We would rather hear about it than not. Call (281) 883-9927 or use the contact form and tell us the page and what happened. If the site is getting in your way, the phone always works and someone will take the details for you.
